An Unforgettable Experience MEP Madrid, Spain

Just overa year after NOVA hosted the 35th international session, it was time for Madrid to run the show. The 5 member delegation formed by our students Elisaveta Ampova (grade 12) and Kristina Madjoska (grade 10) along with Stefan Stojanovski (SUGS ‘Orce Nikolov’), Petar Ivanovski (SUGS ‘Nikola Karev’) and Mile Grncarov (SU ‘Jane Sandanski’ – Strumica),made their way to Madrid, ready to take on the realm that is MEP. The session started in an unorthodox manner with team building and committee meetings on the first day, this is because no official government buildings are open on weekends and thus all General Assembly (GA) activities needed to be held on a weekday. The second day saw an official gathering of all delegations in the Senate of Spain where each head ofdelegation presented their countries. The next two days leading up to lobbying included finishing off resolution writing and a trip to Toledo for delegation meetings. Lobbying and amendments were debated all before the plenary sessionof the GA. A two day plenary session included all 10 resolutions being either adopted or rejected and an overflow of tears once the session was pronounced closed for everyone had to go home.
