Voices of Syria

9/17/2018

Jordan Hattar graced us with his presence last week while on his international circuit. He spoke to our HS student body as well as our elementary students. Jordan was inundated with questions about his travels and experiences by many of our students interested in community service and those who see hope in Jordan’s endeavours. He shared his own stories of hope and of a united global community. Jordan emphasised the importance of learning to listen and gave us numerous examples of ways he has served many communities by connecting to them through empathy. We hope he is able to join us again. In addition we will like to share with all of you all projects description HERE (click on a particular project and you should be able to find out all details), so that you get familiarized with the current projects. Students may also find more details about the project on the Info board in the main hall in the NOVA High School. The registration process for the Week without walls is explained HERE. What is notewotrthy this year is that students don't sign up for a project / trip online. They (their parents) need to go agencies organizing their preferred project / trip and register there (for projects taking place outside of Skopje). Students attending projects in Skopje should register with Ms. Maja A. Jokjik. NOVA will use the 'First come first served rule' for registration of students in projects where there is a limited number of students who can attend;Finally there is a there is a WWW Exemption form HERE for students who have valid reasons not to attend any WWW project / trip;

NOVA HS student orientation, August 2018

8/22/2018

On Monday 20th August, Nova faculty and administration welcomed our new students! We spent time showing around our campus and sharing key elements of what it means to be successful in an International School. They met existing students, were involved in a Question and Answer session on specialised programs (IB and AP) and generally, were offered opportunities to connect with their new teachers. Overall, a very successful event aiming primarily to commence our new journey together @ Nova. We wish them every success in their new home, and know that they will receive support to become the best they can be! Check out the photo gallery from the event here

Throughout the day we conducted 3 separate parent information sessions for Early Education, Elementary and Middle School. This gave parents, students and teachers an opportunity to get familiar with the school and our procedures and most importantly, meet the teachers. This is the second year that we have adopted this model of orientation and based on the feedback from parents and staff, it looks set to be the model that we take forward into the future. NOVA professional learning, IB

8/17/2018

Nova High School faculty dived into their professional learning with a full day workshop on a key component of their IB learning, the Extended Essay. The trainer had a wealth of experience in teaching in the IB and is also an examiner for the IB. It was great to hear about the internal dynamics of marking the Extended Essay and how best to support our learners in this rigorous process and program. As a Professional Learning Community, we learn together so that we can provide meaningful guidance to our students. We constantly refine our practice in order to engage students, embed our new learning and align ourselves to international standards of education. Check out the photo gallery from the event here
