GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
COURSE LOAD AND REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
NOVA students must meet the following list of academic requirements to be awarded a high school diploma, as approved by the school board and verified by the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC):
4-YEAR DISTRIBUTION OF CREDITS:
LANGUAGE ARTS (4 credits)
4 credits in English required (a maximum of 2 transfer credits from the ELD program are allowed)
Additional 4 credits in your Macedonian/Albanian Native Language required
FOREIGN LANGUAGES (2 credits)
A minimum of one modern foreign language studied in two consecutive years is required
MATHEMATICS (3 credits)
Algebra 2 mastery is required for graduation
INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (1 credit)
NATURAL SCIENCES (3 credits)
Science lab portfolios are required
SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES (3 credits)
World Cultures and World History are required
FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS (2 credits)
PHYSICAL EDUCATION (2 credits)
(a maximum of 2 transfer credits from competitive school sports are allowed)
OTHER REQUIREMENTS (1 credit)
Interdisciplinary Writing workshop required
Foundations in Research Course required
ELECTIVES (3 credits)
