Our students look forward to school

The school day begins promptly at 8:00 and ends at 15:00 daily. Students are expected to be in their classrooms and ready to start at 8:00 and may arrive at 7:45. It is essential that parents respect this schedule so their child does not miss important lessons. Students receive instruction in Reading/LA, Math and Science daily and on alternating days have Art and Music, and Dance and Physical Education. Information technology, Macedonian Language, and Library are scheduled two or three times a week, depending on the grade level.

Students have a short breakfast snack at 9:30 and eat lunch at 11:15, followed by recess. Meals can either be brought from home or purchased from the cafeteria on a semester basis. We encourage healthy eating so we ask that food brought from home is also nutritious and doesn’t include candy, sodas and unhealthy snacks. Students are not allowed to leave the building during school hours.

Parents/guardians are expected to pick up their chlld(ren) promptly at 15:00 unless they are in a supervised extracurricular activity after school (grades 1 through 4) or enrolled in our after school daycare program (all grades). First through fourth grade students can choose from a variety of quarter long activities that last until 16:00. If a parent is late beyond 3:15, the child will be taken to the after school daycare room and charged an additional fee.

If a child is absent, please call the administration office, ext. 201. Every day is an important day of learning, so students are expected to be at school unless they are ill or there is a family emergency. If a student is absent for reasons other than illness, parents are asked to fill out a Planned Absence form. Students are expected to make up missed assignments, and teachers can prepare work when given 48 hours notice. However, because our lessons are interactive with many hands-on activities, make up work is not as effective as being in class.
