We know that there are pre-conditions for academic learning and we have now made changes to the schedule to reflect a more balanced approach to learning.

The first is the inclusion of a core period/allocation, intended to provide a more diverse and tailored experience for your child. Core time supplements both academic learning and will develop self-efficacy in our learners. The changes are described below:

For 9th and 10th grade, we have now included allocations for –

  • Writing Workshop  (additional time to enrich the writing experience)

  • Community Service (structured learning opportunities empowering our learners as members of a wider community)

  • Student – directed learning (where students have the chance to choose a project and pursue that area of interest as a form of independent learning) as well

  • pastoral-care and  guidance-based Advisory classes, where we nurture connections with our students, and facilitate discussions relating to their academic future

For 11th and 12th grade, we have built in additional time for –

  • Crucial elements of the IB core including Extended Essay, Community & Service Learning, and subject specific time for Higher Level completion

  • Student –directed learning, specifically for students to work on a project of their choice and learn how to manage projects

  • Structured counseling time with our Guidance Counselors to prepare college applications

  • Advisory time for academic counseling
