NOVA International School Skopje is a diverse learner community with students and staff from over 40 countries. It is the school of choice for the expat and diplomatic community in Skopje, as well as local families with a global outlook. It is an International Baccalaureate World Continuum school, following Common Core standards, to students in grades PK-12. The School was founded in 1997, the first registered private education institution in Skopje, N. Macedonia. The campus is spaciously situated in a residential neighborhood near the city center.

 Spreading Holiday Cheer at Our Elementary School!

✨Our eighth-grade design class has truly outdone themselves this year, bringing the holiday spirit to life in the EEC and ES entrances! Our talented students designed and built 3D holiday displays for each school entrance as part of their latest unit. These vibrant and creative installations feature a title, the names of the students who contributed, and a QR code that links to a page where you can share your feedback about the display.

Fourth-graders Ponder Ways of Building a Greener Future

🌍Our 4th-grade students recently showcased their creativity and innovation during the Sustainable Cities Project Presentation! In front of proud parents, siblings, and family members, these young visionaries presented city models designed to address one critical question: How can we make cities more sustainable? Drawing on their learning from the Integrated Studies unit, each group crafted a city featuring at least ten sustainable initiatives, including renewable energy sources, green transportation, and efficient waste management systems. During their presentations, students led “city tours,” explaining how their designs will contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.

Second-grade Students Showcase Their Journey Through Prehistoric Times

🏺Our Grade 2 students recently took a fascinating trip back in time during their PYP Unit Where We Are in Place and Time. Through collaborative group work, they explored prehistoric eras and built detailed settlements representing the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age. Using clay they created houses, tools, clothing, and food from these periods, bringing history to life in a hands-on and engaging way.

Twelfth-graders Learn Science through Hands-On Lab Work!

🧪Our seniors recently dove into Lab Days—an essential part of their IB journey, where theory meets practice. For our 12th-grade Chemistry students, this meant exploring the fascinating world of kinetics, thermodynamics, equilibrium, and more. From analyzing the activation energy of reactions like H₂O₂ decomposition to investigating how temperature impacts solubility and reaction rates, they conducted experiments that brought their textbooks to life. These hands-on experiences honed critical lab skills and helped students connect complex chemical concepts to real-world applications.

Empathy in Action: A 12th-Grade Creativity-Activity-Service Project

✨Our 12th-grade students elevated their creativity and compassion through an inspiring project in collaboration with Lice v Lice, an NGO committed to fighting poverty and creating job opportunities for marginalized individuals. By inviting representatives from the organization to our school, the students facilitated meaningful discussions on the importance of inclusion and collective action in building a fairer society. This partnership became a powerful learning experience, emphasizing the value of community engagement and advocacy.

Ninth-grade Student Wins Gold in the CEESA Speech & Debate Original Oratory Category!

🎙️From December 5th to 8th, six of our talented students traveled to Poland for the CEESA Speech & Debate Tournament hosted by the American School of Warsaw. Over the weekend, they showed their dedication, talent, and remarkable teamwork. Leona delivered a powerful monologue from Pearl and partnered with Matej to address the complex debate topic of voting rights for incarcerated individuals. Matea inspired everyone with her heartfelt speech on how failure leads to success, while Nade contributed thoughtful arguments in their debate rounds. Andrej’s quick thinking and confidence dazzled in the impromptu speech category, and Gent captivated the audience with his exceptional speech on nuclear weapons—earning him first place in the finals, which took place in a grand theater!
