About Nova
Overview
NOVA is an independent, coeducational day school serving students from pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 on a purpose-built campus in a residential neighborhood near the city center. The school year runs from late August to mid-June and is divided into two semesters, with scheduled breaks in the fall, winter, mid-winter, and spring.
Curriculum
The Early Education Center (EEC) and Elementary School (ES) offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), an inquiry-based framework that supports children’s academic, social, emotional, cultural, and physical development. Learning in the Early Education Center is play-based and developmentally responsive, while the Elementary School follows the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) standards, aligned with U.S. Common Core expectations in literacy and numeracy, as well as AERO Science, Social Studies, and World Languages.
Students in grades K to 5 participate in specialist classes including Art, Music, Dance, and Physical Education. Macedonian language and culture are offered to both local and international students through phased instruction based on language proficiency.
The Secondary School (SS) offers the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). Students in grades 6 through 12 study a range of subjects that encourage critical thinking, interdisciplinary understanding, and increasing independence. Foreign languages offered include French, German, and Spanish, as well as Macedonian language courses.
Academic progress is monitored using MAP assessments, MYP eAssessments, and PSAT and SAT benchmarks. Student Support Services provide academic and social-emotional guidance through a comprehensive counseling model. Learning beyond the classroom is supported through a broad co-curricular program, including SuperNOVA athletics and academic activities. NOVA graduates enroll in universities across Europe, the United States, and the Asia-Pacific.
FacultyIn the 2025–2026 school year, NOVA is supported by 183 staff members, including 124 certified teachers from diverse international backgrounds. Our faculty bring experience from the United States, North Macedonia, the United Kingdom, Canada, and across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Together, they foster a collaborative professional culture defined by high expectations and genuine care for students.
StudentsAt the start of the 2025–2026 school year, NOVA serves approximately 730 students, with a balanced mix of local and international learners representing more than 40 nationalities. This diversity enriches daily learning and supports the development of open-minded, globally aware young people.

The campus is fully wireless and offers a wide range of learning spaces, including science laboratories, art rooms, libraries, cafeterias, indoor amphitheaters, music and dance studios, a drama room, an elementary gym, and a design studio. An adjacent sports and recreational center is used for physical education classes, larger events, and competitions.
