New school. New classrooms. New teachers. New faces. There is a lot to take in on the first day.
That’s why our Orientation Day allows new students and families to take the time and space to settle in, ask questions, make connections, and begin finding their place at NOVA.
As we welcomed our newest community members, we were reminded of the values that guide how we learn and work together: diversity, empathy, integrity, balance, and collaboration. They shape a community of learners where every voice is heard, differences are valued, and each student is encouraged to take an active role in shaping their own journey.
For parents, the day was practical too. Families met teachers and staff, visited classrooms, learned more about the curriculum, explored after-school activities and programs, and had the opportunity to arrange hot meals and transportation and pick up school supply sets.
For students, it was the beginning of getting to know the people and places that will soon become part of their everyday lives.
