History Comes to Life: 7th Graders Visit the Holocaust Museum
Last week, our seventh-grade students took a meaningful educational trip to the Holocaust Museum, bridging classroom learning with real-life history.
As they explored the museum’s exhibits, they deepened their understanding of the Holocaust and the devastating impact of exclusion and identity loss—central themes in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. This visit was especially meaningful for students studying the novel in Macedonian and Albanian language classes, as it brought historical events to life and enriched their literary discussions.
Beyond the book’s pages, students reflected on the real stories of those who lived through one of history’s darkest times. The experience gave them a new perspective on the dangers of prejudice and the importance of remembering the past. Witnessing history in this way enhanced their understanding of the novel and encouraged empathy, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation for the values of tolerance and inclusion.
