Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!

As the Elementary Principal, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the new school year! We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways, finding joy in their energy and their enthusiasm for learning. We will do away with social distancing for now, but we will continue our health practices of washing hands frequently and keeping the classrooms clean and disinfected. Masks at school are strongly encouraged, but they are not mandatory at this time.

This will be my first year serving as your principal. I have devoted my career to educating youth both in the United States and in the international posts of Jordan, India, and Nigeria. For over 30 years now, I have taken on various roles within education: teacher, reading specialist, and curriculum coordinator. I love the role of the principalship most, as I am in close contact daily with students, teachers, and senior leadership.

In the NOVA elementary division, we serve approximately 250 students in PreSchool 3 through grade five. We believe that children need to be actively involved in learning by engaging in activities that help to further their social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development. We offer a strong academic program rooted in a warm, nurturing learning environment. Additionally, we strive to challenge each student to grow in his or her academic abilities. It is our mission to help every child feel welcomed, connected, included, and valued at NOVA. Our classroom teachers, support teachers, and specialty staff are composed of dedicated professionals, committed to providing curriculum, instruction, and assessment that are founded in research-based best practices in education. We believe that children can learn and be successful!

School success depends on the trust, collaboration, and partnerships we build within our school community. It is my belief that education is a joint venture between home and school to support children in meeting their learning goals, as well as supporting their social/emotional needs throughout their development.  With home and school working together as a team, our children will grow to be lifelong learners, and problem solvers, who we hope will impact our future in positive ways through their actions and their voice. I am looking forward to a great and productive year, and I hope you will join me on this amazing journey together at NOVA.

Please reach out if I can be of any assistance. We are all in this together! julie.cox@nova.edu.mk

Warm regards,
